the more medals, the stronger your vote
That’s one of the cool things about Kulitzer: the more votes you get, the more voting-power you gain. Or to put it differently: the better your work, the more you get to say what is good work in your opinion.
It’s a democratic system on steroids. We don’t like that whole lowest-common-denominator, strict-egalitarian thing. We’re talking about identifying brilliant work here at Kulitzer. So we use a special system.
That non-linear democratic—as we like to call it at Kulitzer—drives the creation of a quality jury in a contest. If a lot of people agree that you entered very good pieces in the contest, then you probably know a thing or two about that type of work. That’s why you get higher-value medals to hand out. The best people in a contest get the strongest voice.
With every medal that is awarded on your entry, the total power of all your medals rise. Every time someone votes on your work, your own medals—the ones you vote with—increase their power a bit.
When your vote-power indicator (a bar at the model of your medal-box) says 200%, it means that all your medals are now worth twice as much as anyone with 100% medals. There is no limit to how much weight your medals can achieve. Check back regularly within the voting stage to see how your entries are doing. You will also get notified by Kulitzer if your medals have grown in strength.
You will also receive one new medal (one vote) to hand out for every three new entries that are added to the contest. You’ll be notified of any new medals to hand out, so keep an eye on that voting round deadline. You don’t want any medals in your box lying around when the voting is over. It’s your right to use them. Heck, it’s your duty to use them!
